Hutchens: 7 laws introduction

The seven laws comes in a variety of forms

Laws of sevenThere are a variety of forms in which the seven laws are expressed and experienced.

There are the seven laws of Noah. These are the seven laws which, according to the Talmud, were given by God to Noah as a binding set of laws for all mankind. It has been said that these seven laws are the basis of our system of governance and morality.

Then there are the so-called seven laws of attraction which detail the basis of our interaction with the universe that we live in. The apparent purpose of this is to help people live productive, abundant and harmonious lives.

There are the seven laws of spiritual success which is being promoted by Deepak Chopra, popular author and speaker. To put it simply, the purpose of this is lay out seven natural laws that, if followed will lead to happiness and success.

Another example is the seven laws of boundaries. This is a way to establish better personal boundaries and personal relationships within families and with friends and others.

Well known is the seven habits of highly effective people which was developed by Stephen Covey. Covey states that we need to align ourselves to what he calls "true north" principles of a character ethic which he believes are universal and timeless. We will pursue this in the "seven laws in action" section. Although the word which Covey uses is "habits", Covey's work on this fits into our general idea of "seven laws".

It is fascinating to Sandy Hutchens that the number 7 is so powerful. There are many other examples of the power of seven including the seven days of the week, the seven wonders of the world, and the seven note scale (and much more!) but that is beyond the scope of this site.
